Feeling better today. Pain from mouth sores has decreased, but not gone away.
Also, they have been pumping formula through my feeding tube for over 18 hours now and my body is tolerating it quite well.
This afternoon I was discharged from the hospital. Yeah ๐
I can’t believe all of this stuff happens AFTER your last treatment! I guess there is a point when your body just can’t take any more! We can’t wait to see you this weekend. Don’t worry about talking to us, we’ll be happy just hugging on you ๐
Please, please get lots of rest.
Tiff and Joe
Hi Tiffany and Joe,
I knew that existing side-effects could continue after treatment ended. However, I did not expect that the side-effects would get worse after the treatments ended. But we’ll get through it.
We’re looking forward to seeing you this weekend!
Love, Dick
Just wanted you you to know that we are thinking of you and send our love.

Hi all,
Thanks very much. Feeling some better today, but my mouth is still sore.
Love, Dick
Dick –
Wishing you all the best on your release from the hospital. I’m sorry I haven’t commented sooner… I was recalled to the BP oil spill all summer. But I am so glad this website exists and that you shared so much with us. You and the rest of your/our family are in my thoughts and prayers.
God bless,
Mark
Hi Mark,
Thanks for your post. I appreciate your prayers and support.
Love, Dick
Dick-
I wanted to check in and see how your are doing since I have not seen a recent post. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Are you still utilizing the feeding tube? Am praying that your mouth sores have healed and that you have gained back the weight you had lost……and you are getting stronger each day. Thanksgiving is around the corner and I know that you are surrounded by some wonderful women who can cook ๐
Hi Kim,
Thanks for your post. I’ve not been keeping up with my blog very well recently.
I’m feeling much better. The sores in my mouth are nearly all healed. The sores on my tongue were the most bothersome and they have been gone for about 2 weeks. I’m now eating “regular” food like the rest of my family.
On Thursday, September 16, Dr. Barbara, my oncologist, took me off the feeding tube. Yeah!! If I maintain my weight for the next 2 weeks, I can have the feeding tube removed.
More good news, last Thursday, I had an appointment with Dr. Jim who first discovered the tumor on the base of my tongue and diagnosed the cancer. He used a scope through my nose to check out the base of my tongue — and no more tumor!!
So things are looking up! I am so grateful.
Thanks, Dick
