We knew it was just a matter of time. I woke up this morning with a fair amount of hair on my pillow. Humm… Later as I washed my hair, I noticed hair gathering around the shower drain. The more I rubbed in the shampoo, more hair fell to the floor of the shower. Even the hair on my upper arms gathering in the wash cloth as I showered. When I had finished showering, there was a significant amount of hair covering the drain. The hair lose seems to be evenly distributed. Looks like it thinning out.
So should I just go to the barber and get a buzz cut? Or let it fall out over the next few days, weeks? How long will it take?
Well, I decided not to get it cut today. There’s always tomorrow 😉
Still feeling great and gaining more weight!
I’m not sure how long it will take for it all to come out.. but I’m thinking no longer than a week or two. Most women with long hair cut it short when that happens so that it won’t come out in clumps or get matted. If you hair is short enough that it won’t be an issue but I’d personally be tempted with the buzz cut idea! 😀
Don’t forget that it comes back thicker and healthier than ever!
Hi Tiffany,
I agree, but I’m going to wait at least one more day before I decide what to do.
Dick
You’ll be added to my prayers.
I’m also undergoing chemo…for breast cancer. My chemo was a series of 4 treatments spread three weeks apart and my last will be May 6 if my blood counts are good enough.
I decided to have some fun along the way with a lottery to guess when my hair would begin to fall out. We had a lot of guesses, but my son won…and he hasn’t even seen me since early last Fall. We live several states away.
When it did start, I did opt for the buzz cut. I was already getting tired of the drain cleaning, the pillow case shaking, and the comb with lots of hair in it. Afterward, I went to breakfast with my sister and then shopping at Walmart for my new accessories…turbans, t-shirts (one to wear and one to make into a matching turban), and wild earrings. Then we came home a played around with these things. Did we have a lot of laughs!
Were I a guy, that probably would not be so important, but I want to seem as normal and healthy as possible. The American Cancer Society also gave me a wig. Many do not seem to notice that it is one and I do wear it when I go out. I felt like I was wearing and looking like I was wearing a “rug,” but I’ve gotten better at fixing it to look more natural.
I think your positive attitude, the prayers being offered in your behalf, and Mary’s support will be the most critical weapons in your fight against the cancer. My side effects have been minimal and I’ve been fortunate and blessed. I wish for you similar results.
Eat healthy, rest when you feel the need, and enjoy each day. May the Lord be with you. Eileen
Hi Eileen,
Thank you very much for your prayers. I pray that your chemo treatments rid you of your cancer.
Some things you can’t control, but attitude is a choice and I choose to have a positive attitude knowing that all is well despite my current health challenge.

Hey Dick and Mary! You guys are in mine and Lauren’s prayers. My brother went through chemo and radiation with his colon cancer, and he did well with it.
Hi Marie,
Thank you very much. I’m glad to hear that your brother is doing well with the treatment.
